Why are our towns not receiving their fair share of support from the state? It’s a question that deserves clear answers.
Our communities depend on state resources—grants, program support, and other funding streams—to maintain strong schools, infrastructure, and local services. Yet too often, it feels as though our towns are being left behind. Whether we are talking about general grants, assistance programs, or other resources, we need to understand why the balance is off.
The same concern applies to ECS funding and our Vo-Ag programs. These programs are essential to our schools and to the future of agriculture in our region, yet we still do not fully understand the magnitude of the funding gap our towns may be facing.
So the first step is simple but essential. How much should our communities be receiving, and how much are we getting today? Until we understand what our communities should be getting from the State, we don’t know how much money we’re missing. If we don’t get our fair share from the State, we end up paying for it with our local taxes.
Until we clearly understand the scope of the problem, we cannot effectively solve it. Our towns deserve clarity, fairness, and a strong voice in Hartford—and that begins with asking the right questions and demanding accurate data needed to move forward.
